Octopus Rig

2025

For this rig, I had to build everything from scratch—there weren’t any tutorials or clear references for this kind of setup in Unreal, so it pushed me to figure things out on my own. I created a Control Rig in Unreal Engine 5 that gives each tentacle both a stretch mode and a standard FK-style mode, similar to what I built for the Crocodile Rig’s tail.

To give each limb more flexibility and natural movement, I added pull vector systems that allow each tentacle to rotate independently with clean deformation. It was a lot of trial and error, but I’m proud of how it turned out. This rig is fully procedural and set up inside a RigVM graph, giving me full control over behavior and making it reusable for other multi-limb creatures.
